Raising a Baby and a Company
Born in the Newborn Fog.
As a first time expecting mom, I was so excited to breastfeed and experience the “magical bonding time” with my new baby that everyone talked about. I had picked out my breastfeeding pillow, taken the courses, and had my pump cleaned and ready to go. But what I didn’t expect was the wave of struggles and emotional olympics that I would be hit with.
In all of the talk of this “great breastfeeding experience”, no-one talked about the multitude of struggles that I may encounter and how hard breastfeeding really was, both physically and emotionally. My first month of breastfeeding was filled with tears, uncomfortable positioning, physical wrist, arm and back pain, and a baby who seemed to happily spit up everything he ate into a burp cloth.
I was so uncomfortable and defeated. I found myself counting down the minutes until my son would be done eating, only to have to start all over within 30 minutes due to his cluster feeding. This “great experience” that everyone had talked about felt more like a nightmare, and my dreams of this special bonding time seemed like they were going to be cut short. On top of it all, my son refused every bottle, so I felt like I was his only option.
I searched endlessly for products that would better support me and my son and OUR specific needs, but nothing checked the boxes of what I was looking for. For me, ending our journey early simply due to the lack of support options out there just wasn’t good enough.
The Birth of Acute Baby Co.®
Through our struggles, it became clear that women are missing proper, customizable support, and I decided I wanted to be the one to give it to them. My breastfeeding sessions became brainstorming sessions, and not long after, in the middle of my newborn fog, the idea for the Wedge Mini and Acute Baby Co. was born.
Unfortunately my story and experience with early breastfeeding is the story for too many moms. By not talking about our struggles, we are doing new mamas a disservice but making them feel as if they are alone, doing something wrong, or failing. Breastfeeding is hard AF, no matter who you are, where you live, or how much money you have. Let’s normalize the conversation and be honest about our struggles, so we can celebrate the wins when we come out on the other side.

A New Spin On Breastfeeding & Postpartum.
Breastfeeding is not a one-size-fits-all experience, so why is it treated like one?
At Acute Baby Co.,® we understand that no baby is the same, no mother is built the same, and in most cases, there is not one perfect solution that will work for everyone. While our babies are all individuals, there are common issues that many of us face on our breastfeeding journeys that leave us going down the internet rabbit hole in the middle of the night looking for answers, only to find none that fit our specific needs, or worse, finding too many options that send us into a spiral of anxiety, overwhelm, and loneliness.
From excessive spit up, to reflux, to wrist, back and neck pain that hurts, well…like a mother…we are met with half baked solutions that may help us one day, but aren’t sustainable as long term solutions. Mothers shouldn’t have to suffer or strain in silence just to continue on with the feeding journey that they chose for themselves and their baby. As they say, fed is best, but what is best for one mama may not be the best for another.
At Acute Baby Co., we strive to create products that will elevate and enhance a mother’s breastfeeding experience. Each product is designed with adjustability in mind to give you and your baby the best fit possible for YOU, and help make your breastfeeding journey one that you can look back on with a smile.
Mamas - If we could tell you anything, it would be: You’ve got this, in whatever way works best for YOU. And on the days you feel like you don’t, remember that you have a mom tribe of millions behind you, ready to catch you if you feel like you’re going to fall.
It is our mission to reshape the one-size-fits-all mentality of breastfeeding and postpartum. Join us as we put a whole new spin on nursing support and milk it for all it's worth!
